Building Alfie, the robot helper for your home or business

Built Alfie robot from start to finish, using the previous version and Onshape CAD files as a guide
Recommended changes to the robot to aid assembly
Drew up CAD files for 3D printing
Used plasma cutter and metal bender to fabricate metal parts
Made cables, soldered custom electronics, made changes to PCBs
Calibrated robot using bespoke software while putting in into required functional positions
Operated the robot, performed the testing sequences to confirm all camera and sensors are working
Assisted remote operators by setting up test environments and providing feedback
Built and decorated the sets for videos
Designed tools for the robot
Ordered components for robot and tools and consumables for workshop
Operated all workshop machinery including: CNC machine, plasma cutter, metal lathe and serviced all 3D printers

In charge of physical artwork production from concept to execution, as well as reviewing and adapting designs at prototype stage and final completion
Building, overseeing and quality control of all artworks
Final testing of artworks, including visual check, interaction test for gestures, touch screen test, screen colour test, test for all sensors (cameras, sound, distance, IR, switches and buttons) and ensuring power is managed safely
Checking the artwork has been photographed and logged correctly
Operating, servicing and repairing all workshop tools and machinery
Teaching new staff members how to use the workshop safely and inducting them on all machinery while ensuring they feel supported and are comfortable to come to me with concerns or ideas for the workshop

Accessibility support for deaf and dyslexic students in third level education

Produced an accurate and legible handwritten record of the content of lectures, interviews and off-campus events. Using my technical skills I facilitated the student’s learning of designing and drafting programs and helped with the physical making of prototypes and models. I aided them with perspective drawing, floor plans and using workshop machinery.
